Is AITI Guwahati a government-recognised institute?
Yes. AITI is affiliated with the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) and the State Council for Vocational Training (SCVT), Government of Assam. It is also registered under the S.R. Act XXI of 1860 and recognised by national and autonomous institutions.
What courses does AITI offer?
AITI offers ITI trade courses (Electrician, Fitter, Welder, Electronics Mechanic, COPA, Draughtsman Civil, Automobile Mechanic, Paramedical), polytechnic diploma programmes, and undergraduate general degree courses including B.A., B.Sc., B.SocSc and B.Hum.
What is the eligibility for admission?
Eligibility varies by course. Most ITI trade courses require Class 10 pass. Polytechnic diploma and degree programmes require Class 12. Some technical trades (e.g. Electronics Mechanic) prefer Class 12 with science. The age range is 14 to 40 for NCVT trades.
How long are the courses?
Most ITI trades run 12 to 24 months. Welder, COPA and Automobile Mechanic are 1 year; Electrician, Fitter, Electronics Mechanic and Draughtsman Civil are 2 years. Diplomas typically run 3 years; degree courses 3 years.
Are placements offered after completion?
Yes. AITI runs an on-campus placement cell with active hiring tie-ups across refineries, manufacturing units, railway contractors, electrical contractors, and the Indian Defence sector throughout the Northeast and across India.
Does AITI provide hostel facilities?
Yes. AITI offers safe and furnished hostel accommodation for outstation students, with hygienic dining, security, and recreational space at the Bamunimaidan campus.
What are the fees? Are scholarships available?
AITI's fee structure is designed for working-class families. Fees vary by course and are payable in instalments. Central and state government scholarship schemes (post-matric, minority, SC/ST/OBC) apply to many candidates. Speak to the admissions office for specifics.
Are the certificates recognised outside Assam?
Yes. NCVT certificates are recognised across India and are accepted by Indian Railways, ONGC, the Indian Defence Services, PSUs and private employers. SCVT certificates are recognised by the Government of Assam and by employers throughout the region.
When do the courses start?
Most ITI trades begin in August each year. Diploma and degree programmes follow the standard Assam state academic calendar. Applications open in April and counselling continues through July.

Do you offer placement training apart from technical skills?
